Winter Storm Update - Jan. 10 at 6 p.m.

Power outages are common after a big winter storm. Once ice starts to accumulate on the power lines and tree limbs, they start breaking. Transmission lines are not immune to the weather either. Tonight, there is a transmission line outage that has affected four substations in Douglas County. We currently have just over 12,000 members without power throughout our service area. Crews are working to restore service as quickly as possible in this cold weather. If you lose power, make sure to be careful when using alternative heat sources and practice portable generator safety. Once you and your family are safe, check in with others in your neighborhood to make sure they are OK. weather.gov/safety/winter
