GreyStone ending moratorium on disconnections for nonpayment

GreyStone Power will soon resume disconnections for nonpayment. On Monday, July 13, GreyStone will lift the moratorium on disconnections of service, which suspended cutoffs for residential members, including prepaid members.

We ask members to take steps now to manage their balance. Please take a moment to log into your account online, via the member portal from our home page at www.greystonepower.com, to review your account and if needed, see if a self-service payment arrangement is eligible. Prepaid members should ensure that they maintain a credit balance by July 12.

Although disconnections have been suspended through July 12 for our residential and prepaid members, this does not cancel your electric bill. Since balances will still accrue, members are encouraged to pay what they can to avoid accruing a large balance.

If you are a member who has been unable to pay your power bill, we urge you to contact us for assistance. Please call our member services department during business hours at 770-942-6576 (Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.). Phone lines may be busy and wait times lengthy, so please have patience; we strive to provide excellent service and that may take time. If you prefer, you may email us at memberservices@greystonepower.com and we will respond as quickly as we can.\

During these unprecedented times, GreyStone has taken numerous steps to lessen the financial impact of COVID-19 on members, including voluntarily suspending disconnections since mid-March. Your co-op suspended business as usual for about four months out of concern for our members who have been negatively impacted by the pandemic.

As a not-for-profit cooperative, GreyStone’s only reason for existence is to serve our members. Last month, members received a credit following the GreyStone board’s decision to return a record $15 million in capital credits to those who had power with the co-op in 2019. This is just one of the many ways we have helped our members weather these uncertain times. Your co-op will continue to focus on making life better for all of our members.

Our lobby and walk-in center remain closed as we evaluate reopening measures with the safety of our members and employees in mind. Our drive-thru remains open; however, all members are highly encouraged to conduct GreyStone business through our website, payment app or over the phone if possible. For additional updates and information on our pandemic measures, please visit our website or our Facebook page.
