GreyStone is always working to make life better in the communities we serve. In 2024, your electric cooperative launched a new scholarship program to assist, support and encourage those in the community who are aspiring linemen. GreyStone will be providing four $7,500 scholarships to local individuals entering a lineman training school in Georgia.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Individuals must meet the following requirements to apply:

  • High school graduate, GED equivalent or be a graduating senior in good standing.
  • Must have an interest in a career as a distribution system lineman.
  • Work is performed outdoors, in heat, cold and inclement weather conditions and at heights, underground or in confined spaces.
  • Work is physically demanding and requires climbing, lifting, twisting and other activities
  • Must be a GreyStone Power member or GreyStone Power member’s child living in a home served by GreyStone Power. 
  • Drug-free.
  • Safe driving record to be verified through a Georgia Motor Vehicle Report and no known medical issues that would prohibit the student from eventually obtaining a Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Must be willing to sign a photo release. 
  • GreyStone employees and employees’ family members are not eligible to apply.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Individuals must apply through GreyStone Power’s website. The link to the application is available here.

  • Completed application.
  • A 250-500 word typed essay on “Why I want to be a lineman.”
  • Two letters of recommendation (one personal and one professional or academic).
  • Be available for an interview with the scholarship selection team. 

DEADLINES:

  • The application for 2025 will be due April 27, 2025.
