GreyStone Power will be offering scholarships for students going to lineman school. Four $7,500 scholarships will be awarded this spring to assist, support and encourage local individuals entering a lineman training school in Georgia.
Students who apply for the scholarship must be a high school graduate, GED equivalent, or be a graduating senior in good standing; a GreyStone Power member or GreyStone Power member’s child living in a home served by GreyStone Power; drug free; have a safe driving record to be verified through a Georgia Motor Vehicle Report and no known medical issues that would prohibit the student from eventually obtaining a Commercial Driver’s License and must be willing to sign a photo release.
Applicants must have an interest in a career as a distribution system lineman and be able to do physically demanding work performed outdoors, in heat, cold and inclement weather conditions and at heights, underground or in confined spaces. They also must be able to do work that requires climbing, lifting, twisting and other activities.
Individuals who are interested in applying must complete an application, submit a 250-500 word typed essay on “Why I want to be a lineman,” two letters of recommendation (one personal and one professional or academic) and be available for an interview with the scholarship selection team.
