GreyStone hosts solar seminar for members

Posted on: September 30th, 2014

GreyStone recently offered a free seminar to inform members who are considering solar energy for their homes or who have questions about solar power.

Solar Energy 101 featured experts in the solar industry and was held Aug. 26 at the co-op’s Douglasville headquarters. The seminar’s featured presenter was industry spokesman Russ Korte, Business Manager of Renewable Energy Products for McNaughton-McKay Electric Company. The company is a distributor of renewable energy products, including solar power equipment.

GreyStone Department Manager of Residential Energy Services Rudy Echols facilitated the program and said that it answered commonly asked questions about solar power. The program also provided an industry update on current solar trends and opportunities for homeowners.

Along with helping members to have a better understanding of how solar photovoltaic (PV) panels work, seminar attendees also learned about the cost of a home solar system, available rebates and alternatives for saving energy.

GreyStone’s launch of Solar Energy 101 reflects a growing interest in renewable energy among electric co-op members. “One of GreyStone’s guiding principles states that we promote change and encourage innovation that adds value for our members. The recent addition of a large solar project to our energy portfolio aligns with this principle,” said Echols.
