Generator Safety

As the temperature drops this evening, please follow safety protocols while making plans for your family. Many homes are currently operating with generators, while some are preparing to do so for the first time. It is important to follow the proper installation guidelines for the safety of both your family and the linemen working to repair the lines. NEVER connect the generator directly to your household wiring without having an electrician first install a transfer switch. This will prevent the backfeeding of electricity, which could electrocute a lineman working to make repairs for you and others.
