GreyStone Power's Annual Meeting of Members takes place on the second Saturday of October. Mark your calendar now for Oct. 13, 2012 to come see your electric cooperative in action! All members and their families are invited to attend.

Last year's free event celebrated members "Lighting the way" for 75 years in the community. The event featured an exclusive Together We Save Energy Efficiency Expo, showcasing the value of energy efficiency, and on-site broadcasts of WSB's Walter Reeves Lawn and Garden Show and Captain Herb Emory's NASCAR Show, AVF Speed Shop.

There was entertainment for the whole family including rides, games, and all the traditional carnival regalia. Douglas County 4-H hosted pony rides for children. Mini-members also enjoyed appearances from costumed characters.

A health fair, designed to assist members in keeping themselves and their families healthy, offered many types of health-related tests and information. Flu shots were offered by WellStar Douglas for $25 each.

Other festivities included chicken biscuits by Chick-fil-A, a book fair and child identification program. The official business meeting of members was at 11 a.m. Members were briefed on the financial status of the cooperative, plans for the future, and reports on the previous year. Directors without opposition (uncontested) from Districts 2, 6 and 7 were elected by voice vote. No candidates were nominated through petition by members this year.

Some great door prizes were won after the business meeting. One lucky member won a matching diamond pendant and earrings donated from D. Geller & Son, and a lucky family went home with the grand prize: a 2012 Hyundai Accent donated by Thornton Road Hyundai! Click here to view the car.
